The Ultimate Golf Cart Buyer's Guide: ICON i40L Golf Cart vs. DACH Apollo Golf Cart

If you’re shopping for a premium 4-passenger street-legal Golf Cart, two models that deserve a close look are the ICON i40L and the DACH Apollo.

Both are attractive, Lithium-powered Golf Carts designed for neighborhood transportation, resort communities, master-planned developments, and everyday recreational use. Both offer modern styling, comfortable seating, and the features most buyers expect from a street-ready Golf Cart.

But these two Golf Carts appeal to very different buyers.

The ICON i40L Golf Cart is a proven, value-focused Golf Cart that has become one of the most recognized names in the industry.

The DACH Apollo Golf Cart is a newer premium model that takes a more automotive-inspired approach, emphasizing technology, ride quality, comfort, and design.

Golf Cart Buyers Guide - ICON i40L vs DACH Apollo Golf Cart

Golf Cart Buyers Guide – ICON i40L vs DACH Apollo Golf Cart

First Impressions

The ICON i40L has a traditional Golf Cart appearance with a lifted stance, practical layout, and a familiar design that many owners already know and trust.

The DACH Apollo looks like it was designed by an automotive company rather than a Golf Cart manufacturer. The styling is sleek, modern, and distinctive. Many buyers immediately notice the Apollo’s premium appearance and higher-end fit and finish.

If appearance is a major factor in your decision, many buyers feel the Apollo stands out from the crowd.

Winner: DACH Apollo

Performance and Power

The ICON i40L Golf Cart is powered by a 5kW AC motor paired with a Lithium battery system and controller designed for dependable neighborhood transportation. It delivers strong acceleration, smooth operation, and speeds up to approximately 25 mph depending on configuration.

The DACH Apollo takes performance a step further with a larger 72V architecture and a 6.3kW AC motor. This higher-voltage system provides stronger acceleration, improved hill-climbing performance, and excellent torque when carrying passengers.

For communities with hills or buyers who regularly carry four adults, the Apollo feels more powerful.

Winner: DACH Apollo

Ride Quality and Comfort

This is one of the biggest differences between the 2 Golf Carts.

The ICON i40L provides a comfortable ride and has earned a strong reputation among neighborhood owners. Its lifted suspension and higher ground clearance help handle uneven roads and rougher surfaces.

The DACH Apollo was engineered with a more automotive-inspired chassis and suspension design. Several Apollo models utilize a unibody-style structure intended to improve rigidity, comfort, and handling.

The result is a smoother, quieter, more refined driving experience.

Winner: DACH Apollo

Technology

Technology is where the gap becomes more noticeable.

The ICON i40L includes many modern features buyers expect today, including digital displays, backup cameras, LED lighting, and premium seating depending on model year and package.

The DACH Apollo introduces several features rarely found on traditional Golf Carts, including NFC start systems, smartphone integration, wireless charging, cruise control, advanced displays, and additional convenience technology.

For technology-focused buyers, the Apollo feels like a next-generation vehicle.

Winner: DACH Apollo

Battery and Driving Range

The ICON i40L utilizes a Lithium battery system that offers excellent efficiency and dependable range for most neighborhood drivers. Typical range estimates are approximately 30-50 miles depending on terrain, speed, and passenger load.

The DACH Apollo’s larger 72V Lithium platform provides impressive energy capacity and is commonly rated around 50 miles per charge under typical operating conditions.

Most owners will find both systems more than sufficient for daily use.

Winner: Slight Edge to DACH Apollo

Reliability and Dealer Support

This category favors experience and market presence.

ICON has built one of the largest dealer networks in the Golf Cart industry and has established a significant owner base throughout the United States. Parts availability and service familiarity are major advantages.

DACH is growing rapidly and gaining attention nationwide, but it remains a newer brand compared to ICON.

Buyers who prioritize dealer familiarity and a longer track record often feel more comfortable with ICON.

Winner: ICON i40L

Value for the Money

The ICON i40L Golf Cart has become popular because it delivers a lot of features at a competitive price point.

The DACH Apollo generally costs more but offers additional technology, upgraded engineering, premium styling, and a more refined driving experience.

The question isn’t necessarily which one costs less.

The real question is whether the added features and premium experience justify the investment.

For many buyers, the answer is yes.

Winner: Depends on Priorities

Best Value: ICON i40L

Best Premium Experience: DACH Apollo
